On cars systems of injection of fuel Bosch K-Jetronic or Bosch L-Jetronic can be established. Management is carried out by module EEC IV (Electronic Engine Control MK IV – electronic control by the engine) which also operates ignition system.
Fuel under the pressure developed by the fuel pump, moves through the accumulator of pressure and the fuel filter. Air expense is regulated throttle заслонкой depending on position of a pedal of an accelerator. The quantity of air arriving in cylinders of the engine through a flowmeter, is the basic size operating process смесеобразования.
Fuel atomizers receive electric impulses: one impulse on one turn of a cranked shaft. Fuel atomizers of engine DOHC work in pairs from impulses of module EEC IV and fuel is injected by pair atomizers on everyone a half-turn of a cranked shaft. Duration of an impulse depends on quantity of injected fuel. Duration of an impulse is calculated EEC by IV module on the basis of the information from various gauges. In each cylinder one fuel atomizer is established.
Air soaked up by the engine passes through a measuring instrument of an air stream. On engines V6 two measuring instruments of a stream of air are established. The flowmeter plate in a measuring instrument deviates proportionally to stream size: this deviation will be transformed to an electric signal for module EEC IV. Regulated bypass the channel ensures functioning of the engine idling.
The gauge of position throttle заслонки informs module EECIV position throttle заслонки and speed of change of position throttle заслонки, thus, at sharp opening заслонки for car acceleration additional giving of fuel is provided. For economy of fuel there is a system of switching-off of giving of fuel in a mode of braking by the engine.
Idling turns cope the thermoelectric valve of a jet which regulates quantity of air bypassing throttle заслонку on the additional channel. The zolotnik copes module EEC IV. Direct adjustment of turns of idling is not provided.
The gauges located on the engine, provide an exact dosage of fuel on all power setting at any surrounding temperatures. On models with an automatic transmission the gauge registers position of a side scene of a box from Р – parking or N – neutral position, to D – advance, causing respective alteration of turns of idling. Additional gauges of engine DOHC inform module EEC IV the data on fuel temperature, temperature of a cooling liquid, speed of movement of the car (the gauge is located in a transmission).
In the presence of the air conditioner, the signal from the compressor gives the chance installations of turns of idling irrespective of the loading created by the compressor of the conditioner.
On models with engine DOHC without the catalyst adjustment of a mix of idling is carried out by a potentiometer directly connected to block EEC IV. On models with engine DOHC with the converter the oxygen gauge of exhaust gases allows module EEC IV to operate a toplivno-air mix so that it corresponded to working parametres. Thus, manual fine tuning of a mix is impossible.
On models with engine DOHC with the catalyst the system of catching of evaporation of fuel is established. The system interferes with an exit of evaporations of gasoline in atmosphere. When ignition is switched off, steams from a fuel tank get to a coal box. When the engine works, module EEC IV opens the electromagnetic valve and they arrive in an inlet collector and mix up with fresh air. It clears the coal filter. The special valve prevents hit of soaked up air in a fuel tank.
In module EEC IV "the limited mode" (LOS) is provided, allowing in case of failure of the module or gauges of system of injection of fuel to operate the car, though and with capacity loss.
From the middle of 1986 all models are supplied by the inertial switch of the fuel pump. The switch breaks off an electric chain of the pump in case of failure or strong blow. The switch is to the left of the lock of a cover of a luggage carrier under a plastic cap. Inclusion is made by pressing the button the top part of the switch.
